Two Honeymoons, One Paris

Same city. Same four days in May. Two couples who would be miserable on each other's trip.

Most "Paris honeymoon itineraries" are the same list in a different font. That's because most of them are built around what the planner gets paid for, or what everyone else already booked. ai-tinerary starts with who you are. Why you travel. How you spend. How you plan.

So here's the test. Two newlywed couples. Same city, same four days in mid-May, Wednesday to Saturday. Only their traveler types are different. Watch what changes.

The couples are made up. The places are real, and every price, opening day and link on this page was checked against the official source in October 2026. Prices change; the real tool re-checks them when it builds your trip.

Meet the Newlyweds

Types come from the Wandering Mustache traveler quiz. Your why, plus how you spend and how you plan.

Couple A

The Champagne Checklist

Why: Collector Leans: Reminiscer Spend: Lux Life Plan: Deep Diver

They want the big ones, all of them, in a sensible order, with the tickets already in the inbox. Mona Lisa, Hall of Mirrors, Eiffel Tower summit. They will pay to skip a line and pay more not to stand in a crowd. And every big moment should come with a story they can retell at the fiftieth anniversary.

  • Five-star hotel, cars and drivers
  • Every slot booked before takeoff
  • One "remember when" moment a day
Couple B

The Stairs, Not the Lift

Why: Adventurer Spend: Thrifty Drifter Plan: Choose-Your-Own-Adventure

They'd rather climb 674 steps than pay extra for an elevator, and they'll brag about it at dinner. They want one or two big anchors a day and nothing else scheduled. The deal is part of the fun. So is getting a little lost, a little sore, and a little sunburned on a rock in a forest.

  • Cheap, clean bed in a lived-in neighborhood
  • Bikes, trains and their own two feet
  • Anchors only. Afternoons left blank on purpose.

Nobody Paid to Be on This Page

Every recommendation below was chosen for the couple. None was chosen because it pays us. None of these links earns us a cent; they all go straight to the hotel, restaurant or ticket office. Where we've reviewed it in person, the stamp says so. Where we haven't, the stamp says that too.

Down the road, ai-tinerary will offer to book some things for you. When it does, the commission shows up on the quote before you say yes, and the recommendation comes first, always. We pick the place, then we check whether it pays. Never the other way around. Who pays us, in full.

Four Days, Side by Side

Wednesday to Saturday, chosen on purpose: the Louvre closes Tuesdays, and Versailles and the Catacombs close Mondays.

Day 1 · Wednesday

Arrival day
Couple A
  1. ArrivePrivate transfer to Le Pavillon de la Reine Vetted, five stars behind an ivy courtyard on the Place des Vosges. It's the hotel the Staches say they'd book next time, after booking the wrong one. Le Marais keeps the good restaurants close.
  2. AfternoonMonet's Water Lilies at the Musée de l'Orangerie Vetted (€12.50 online), then a slow walk through the Tuileries.A gentle first-day box to tick. The Staches over-booked a Louvre day and missed this one. Couple A won't.
  3. BreakOne hot chocolate at Angelina Stached on the Rue de Rivoli.Order one and share it. It's essentially a melted dessert, and you have dinner tonight.
  4. EveningThe Louvre Stached late opening (Wednesdays until 9 p.m.; €32 for non-EU visitors). Timed tickets, a map plan, and the big three: Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory.Collectors get the checklist. Deep Divers get the route planned in advance, because the Louvre punishes improvisers.
Couple B
  1. ArriveRER B into the city on the €14 airport ticket. Stay in a small two- or three-star hotel near the Canal Saint-Martin AI-ed.The tool names specific hotels at build time from live prices. A lived-in neighborhood, not a postcard one, for a lot less money.
  2. AfternoonA 24-hour Vélib' pass (€5 classic bikes) and a ride along the canal and down to the Seine. Then nothing. That's the plan.
  3. Evening · AnchorClimb the Eiffel Tower Stached: 674 steps to the second floor for €14.80. The lift costs €23.50.Thrifty and Adventurer in one ticket. They save €8.70 each and earn the bragging rights.
  4. After darkWatch it sparkle for five minutes on the hour. Free, from anywhere with a view.

Day 2 · Thursday

The day trip
Couple A
  1. MorningCar and driver to the Palace of Versailles Stached on a Passport ticket (€35 non-EU in high season). Hall of Mirrors, then the gardens. The biggest box on the Collector's list. A driver means no fighting the RER on the way back.
  2. LunchLe Pincemin Stached in town, the Staches' splurge after their own Versailles day. Closed Sundays and Mondays.Creative French cooking, and the chef came out to meet the table. That's a Reminiscer story waiting to happen.
  3. EveningBateaux Parisiens Stached dinner cruise from the foot of the Eiffel Tower. Take the 8:30 p.m. sailing (2½ hours, €99–245) so you're on the river when the tower lights up.The cruise that stole the Staches' own Paris trip.
Couple B
  1. All day · AnchorTrain from Gare de Lyon to Fontainebleau-Avon on line R (€2.55 each way) and spend the day bouldering in the Forest of Fontainebleau AI-ed. Rent a crash pad in town. One of the most famous bouldering forests in the world is a short train ride from Paris, and a single metro ticket covers the fare. That's catnip for this couple.
  2. LunchA picnic on a rock. Buy it in Paris before the train.
  3. EveningBack in the city, sore and happy. Dinner wherever they land.

Day 3 · Friday

Old Paris
Couple A

  3. LunchRosemarie Stached in the 7th. Weekday lunch only, so Friday is the day.Excellent food, and extremely accommodating when the Staches brought their parents.
  4. Late afternoonEiffel Tower Stached by lift to the summit, with a glass at the summit Champagne Bar (€60.70 together as one ticket). The toast they'll still be describing at 80. Book the slot when tickets open; they go.
  5. NightThe Crazy Horse Stached cabaret with the champagne package (€125). Dress up; no trainers.Very Paris, very much not the Moulin Rouge, and a story you'll tell carefully at family dinners.
Couple B
  1. Morning · AnchorThe Catacombs AI-ed: 131 steps down, 112 back up and 1.5 km of bones (€31 with audioguide). Book ahead.
  2. LunchPicnic supplies on Rue Cler Stached: baguette, cheese, fruit, a bottle, a bench.Better than most cafés at a fraction of the price, and the money goes to the family shops.
  3. AfternoonWander the 7th. If they pass 140 Rue du Bac, the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Stached is quiet, gilded and a working chapel, so voices down. Then the quai Branly Stached living wall, viewable for free from the street.
  4. EveningThe Louvre courtyard Stached at dusk, from the outside.Free, gorgeous, no queue. If the Friday happens to be the first of the month, the Louvre itself is free from 6 p.m.; book a slot.

Day 4 · Saturday

Up the hill, then the farewell dinner

  1. MorningUp to Sacré-Cœur Stached on the Montmartre funicular (one metro ticket). The basilica is free.Keep your hands in your pockets on the steps. The friendship-bracelet guys are persistent.

  3. AfternoonThe food hall on the 7th floor of Printemps Haussmann Stached, for edible souvenirs.
  4. Farewell dinnerLa Petite Lune Stached in the 6th. The Staches' best meal in Paris, found by getting lost.Book it. The Staches stumbled in. Deep Divers don't stumble.
Couple B
  1. Early · OptionalA run on the Coulée verte René-Dumont AI-ed, a 4.5 km park built on an old railway line.
  2. Morning · AnchorClimb the Notre-Dame towers AI-ed: 424 steps, no lift, €16, and free if you're under 26. Book online; it's the only way in.Gargoyles at eye level. The best view-per-euro in Paris if you're young enough to get it free.
  3. AfternoonWalk up Rue des Martyrs Stached, eating as you go, then 280 more steps to the Sacré-Cœur dome AI-ed (€8).Two climbs in one day. On a honeymoon. This couple is fine.
  4. Farewell dinnerLa Petite Lune Stached, same as Couple A.Some places are right for everyone. The wine list is priced for people who live there, which suits a Thrifty Drifter perfectly.

The Flaw, Because There's Always One

This page was built and checked by hand. The real tool is AI, and AI will occasionally recommend a place that closed last month. That's why every place carries a stamp, and why the tool re-checks hours, prices and closures each time it builds a trip. One example from this page: the Marché des Enfants Rouges, the oldest covered market in Paris, would have been on this page, until a fire closed it in October 2026. It stays off until it reopens.

Trust the Stached places most. Double-check the AI-ed ones. We'd say the same about any travel advice, including ours.
